Our Chile De Arbol sun-dried chilis are what bring the perfect level of spiciness to our spicy traditional harissa paste. Don’t underestimate these little red guys based on their size though, they pack an enormous punch of heat (15,000 to 30,000 Scoville Heat Units).
After being carefully de-stemmed, cleaned, and ground with our juicy Guajillos, we obtain a base that we feel is the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. A base that complements the harissa’s garlic character but also the floral aroma coming from the coriander and caraway.
This spicy harissa is our take on classic version of traditional harissa that originates in the Cap Bon and commonly referred to as هريسة عربي (“harissa arbi”) in Tunisian vernacular. Harissa arbi is traditionally produced with a deep level of heat that we mirror through our product.
