Pheasant Kraal Farming
Phisantekraal Farm has belonged to the Louw family for more than 100 years.
The main branch is vineyard and wine grape cultivation. The grapes are delivered to various cellars, mainly Spier and DGB cellars.
Small grains such as oats and sorghum are sown. The oat hay is marketed for horse feed and sorghum is sown again for vineyard fertilization.
The farm is bred with the SA Meat Merino for the meat. Sheep are slaughtered and approved by an accredited abattoir and then the meat is processed and supplied to the public via Phisantekraal Slaghuis.
Speculation cattle are also part of the livestock branch. Cattle are bought, rounded up and sold again.
The Phisantekraal dam is an asset to the farm. The water feeds about 46 hectares of land for irrigation. Fishing competitions, life-saving training and 2- and 3-camp competitions are part of the annual events on the farm.
